Fellow Media Portalians...

I have been having a problem since day one and until now it really hasn't bothered me too much. But now I need to fix it.
My HTPC is running perfectly - recording two channels at once without a hiccup. (Thanks to Callifo and Taipan's help).
For some reason though - digital audio is only working on 4 of my 5 channels here in Sydney (I can't get digital on channel 7). I have been unable to assertain if this is a tuning problem or more deep seeded. To get around this I am using the filter to decode to stereo rather than outputing direct to my amp on digital fibre lead.
But now I have found that the digital signal must be encoded into the DVR-MS some how. Because any DRV-MS -> MPEG conversion that I try (in media portal) from my HTPC loses the audio. The one channel that never has digital audio converts fine (with audio).
If I copy the DVR-MS's to another PC and use the DVR-MS toolbox all the conversions work fine.
I really lack the knowledge of all things "audio codec" and was helping that someone might have some suggestions on how I could solve this issue....

Also I would like to know if anyone else in Sydney can get an AC3 PID for channel 7 that actually works??

Perhaps they dont broadcast in AC3 on those channels? I have found that only my ABC/Ten use AC3. The rest of them dont have AC3 PIDs either.

Perhaps - ch9 in sydney does - odd that you dont get it.
Any idea why it would be affecting my conversions in MP though? When I playback before the conversion it has sound.

Assuming that the channels in Sydney are setup the same as in Melbourne, then only 9, 10, and ABC transmit AC3 - while 7, ABC2 and SBS are MPEG2 only.

How are you doing the conversions in MediaPortal - what tool do you use?

I had the same problem with the auto compression to mpeg in MP losing the audio. It was around a month (I think) ago using the CVS code at that time.

The more recent CVS code doesn't lose the audio now.

I don't record too often so I cannot confirm when it started working again and if it was actually the CVS code back then.

Taipan - that is correct they appear to be the same as Melbounre.

sla - you could be onto something - I havn't changed CVS in a long time (probably about a month) as the system is working really well and I am scared to change it. I will give that latest CVS a go and see how I go - thanks.
