AW: DigitalDevices Dual DVB-S2 Testing (CAM/DiSEqC)

    Hi,
I've got a little problem with my DD Setup, hope you can help to solve it.

    I'm using a Cine S2 V6 + Duo Flex S2 + CI + Alphacrypt Light CAM + Sky S02 Smartcard
    DD Drivers: 2.3.0.47

This 4 Tuner Setup is connected to an Inverto Unicable LNB.
99% of the time everything is working fine, I can tune 4 channels seperately from each other on different clients or record multiple channels simultaneously.

But from time to time I get the issue that MP is telling me "Channel is scrambled" when tuning to a Sky channel although CAM/Smartcard are working. Other Sky channels work absolutely fine at the same time.
The problem is, if this occurs, tvservice refuses from recording that channel. I had a look at that in the tvservice Config / "Test channels" --> there it says: ERR Channel is scrambled.
I have checked the CAM Options for each tuner: Each Tuner can decode 1 channel at the same time. Changing that value didn't solve the problem.
I really don't know what I can do about this issue.
The strange thing is: it's obviously not related to certain channels. It happens from time to time, but always on different channels and I can tune that issued channel in LiveTV just moments later.

I have attached the tvservice logs and the corresponding TunerLog so you can see the date/time the error occured.
Hope you can see what's going wrong there.
Thanks in advance for your help!

    Greetings...

I have recently bought the DD Octopus, including 2 Duoflex S2 DVB-S2 tuner cards, and the CI module.
I am using the standard CIM and smartcard of my provider (TV Vlaanderen).
I tested the smartcard via a softcam solution and it worked, so I decided to move to hardware CAM solution that was reported working in MP.
I have been trying to get the system working with a variety of Mediaportal versions, all having the same result : when I enable the CI module via the DD tool, I can't find any channels during a scan ("Nothing found" on every transponder). When I disable the CI module, I can find channels, but not descramble them. Any channels found with the CI module disabled, can not be viewed (could not create graph) when I enable the CI module again.

    Windows 7 x64
DD driver version 2.1.2.39 (also tried with 2.1.2.33)
    Mediaportal versions 1.1.3 without and with above mentioned patch ;
    Mediaportal version 1.2.0 beta
Enabled CI module in DD tool and in Mediaportal.
I tried every conceivable combination mentioned in the posts above, all with exactly the same result.

CI menu is available and working in MP 1.2.0, not in 1.1.3 patched.

    CI module information :
    Manufacturer : SmarDTV
    Software version : Canal Digitaal 2.05.001 (02.05.01.00)
    Firmware Version 3.03.013
    Mediaguard version :
MG core library R L1.4.26 (10/04/08) (this seems a bit old, no ?)

I haven't found a way to update the software of the CIM. When I try it via the DD tool or via the CI menu in MP, nothing happens.

Did you find any solution? Got the same problem..

As far as I know, the official CD cams don't support multiple channel decodings (have to use aston dual for it). But don't know if it's related to your current problem. Anyway, you should unlink the CI-module from one of the tuners (config tool) and use that one for fta only (mediaportal configuration).

I've set only my first tuner to link to CAM, but still "nothing found" when i scan for channels.
When i pull out CAM module; i can scan, but when i re-enter the cam, i cannot watch anything, even FTA channels "No PMT found". I can however access the CAM, and see the smartcard info.

@DerPrinz82: try using "stop card" instead of "pause card" (wiki).

Thank you for the advice. I will try and report if it works.

Is my CAM setting correct? CAM Limit = 1 for EACH tuner.
It's a bit irritating to me that the option is called "CAM Limit", which would actually be 4 with the Alphacrypt light

DerPrinz82: yes, CAM limit should be 1 for each tuner. TV Server was created before DD tuners that could share the CAM were available. It is hard to change TV Server to account for that...

I've seen this problem with DD cards before and I think it is either a CAM or DD driver issue. Either the driver or the CAM are preventing the PAT, SDT and/or PMT information from reaching TV Server. It is impossible for TV Server to find channels in such a situation. This problem will prevent the tuner from ever working when you have the CAM plugged in. If I were you I would contact DD for support. There is nothing that I can do to help. I'd be happy to hear any response from them if they think there is a problem with TV Server though...

    Hi again...
Last night I went through a lot of testing because of this issue:

    1st Try:
CAM Limit 1 for each Tuner / "Pause" Card
Result: My mentioned problem occurs, no proper recording. Ends up in a vicious circle trying to descramble the channel.

2nd Try according to your advice:
CAM Limit 1 for each Tuner / "Stop" Card
Result: Made it even worse. Trying to record something even kicks me from LiveTV, although 3 Tuners are idle, plus tuning a second channel on another client brings up stuttering on both channels.

    3rd Try:
CAM Limit 4 for each Tuner / "Stop" Card
Result: The Stuttering is gone. Can watch LiveTV and 3 parallel recordings started properly.

So is there something wrong with my MP setup or is it hardware related?
I have also asked the DD support if they know anything about this issue, waiting for an answer right now.

    Greetings :)
