Directdraw errors on launching Gens or Fusion (1 Viewer)

I have the following problem:

With Mediaportal in full-screen mode, when launching Gens or Fusion in fullscreen mode I get error messages such as:

"Failed to create primary surface. Application needs exclusive mode", "CreatePrimary failed", etc. They are always related to DirectDraw.

Does anyone know how to prevent this? How have others set up their megadrive emulator (GenS or Fusion)?

I have found the solution on page 25 of the large MyEmulators topic (why not open new topics on problems?). Posted here for future reference...

I had enabled "exclusive mode" under Directshow Filter Control -> Video Renderer Settings. It sounded like a good idea as it promised to avoid tearing. It didn't say it would break emulation launching though.

I switched that option but I'm still getting a crash of MP. The crash is only postponed to the time I leave Gens...
