Hello All,
The question I have for you is can I use MP to view tv from my directv box (model Directv H21) via usb slot or another way... do I need a tv tuner card? If I do what one would be good.

Talked with Direct tv and they said I need (model HR20 or newer) to get what they call ondemand programing, it sends movies, and other stuff to a dvr... Can I plug into a HR20 or other model and watch live tv or movies on MP with this.... Expensive try if it doesnt work.

I have MP 1.0 RC3 on two machines and here is the specs on the Big Machine
CPU: intel duo core 2.8 800mhz 2mb cache
HD: seagte 1tb sata 3.0mb
motherboard Asus P5QL-EM
mem: 2gb 667mhz
video: onboard
audio: onboard
optical : DVD
networked : yes
TV: Vizo LCD 42"
Using HDMI cable

Any Thoughs on The Directv problem :confused:

Sorry Using Win XP Home with MP

The only way (I know of) integrating external set-top boxes into MP is to install a BDA compliant capture card, run TV Server and tune to the composite video or s-video "channels" on the capture card. You can also setup IR blasting to control the set-top box. This is how I think most people are doing it.

Your set top box is fine for pulling HD Movies and live tv into MP. I have two set top boxes connected via component to Hauppauge HD-PVR's. There are four main components to connect your set top box to MP....

    1. Hauppauge HD-PVR (link here)
    2. A serial to USB cable (setup on post #3)
    3. A Schedule Direct subscription (Information here)
    4. The HD-PVR cabable TV3 found here. (see post #98)
