Disable automatic removal of movies (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I lost one of my drives and I start recovering the lost movies. All the movies on the crashed drives are marked with red font.
I'm starting to collect all the missing movies from various backups. From what I remember, if I just recreate the missing path and start the configuration it will remove all the movies of this path (because the new folder is empty).
Is it possible to disable the automatic removal of movies?

Alternatively, I also created new folder and copied few recovered movies to it but they are detected as new movies in the importer. Is it possible to associate them with the missing files entries?

Thanks
Yossi

There are backups stored at the above location, worst case scenario.

Do not recreate the missing path then, leave is missing, and MovPic will leave the entries intact.

Then you create a new import path and start adding the same movies and MovPic will adjust the import path from old to new without re-importing or loosing the original date-added and watched flag info.

What "Paranoid Delusion" meant for database backup is that he thought u already had done it and lost all those movies, you can then restore database backup to get the old one back, so you can do it correct with a new path.

This is what I did - I didn't create the old path, instead I created a new import path and placed few recovered movies in it.
The problem is that Moving Pictures doesn't adjust the path, it tries to import them as new movies, leaving the red (missing) entries as they are.
    What am I doing wrong?

When you re-add the same movie and you want to avoid full re-import you have to add it super quick. I personally favor the way of closing MovPic, put the same files in place and then launch MovPic config direct (not via MePo config) and verify that they do not appear inside the importer showing as fresh import, but that their path got updated to point to the new location.

However since you can have multiple versions of the same movie installed, MovPic uses a hash to decide if the file is the same. The hash is (AFAIK) a SHA1 hash on a small data chunk of the mediafile itself. So if you did not replace the missing/lost ones with an exact duplicate then the hash will not match and it will be seen a new movie. This is also why MovPic can detect filename renames easy, because the data-chunk based hash doesn't change then.

So you might be forced to re-import everything if you are unable to get the exact files restored, which if you use English titles and English details, is a good time to switch over to the IMDb+ scraper

    For Vista/Win7 64-bit use:

    "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\PluginConfigLoader.exe" /plugin="%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\plugins\Windows\MovingPictures.dll"

If you have 32-bit then use:

    "%ProgramFiles%\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\PluginConfigLoader.exe" /plugin="%ProgramFiles%\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\plugins\Windows\MovingPictures.dll"

If you do not have the "PluginConfigLoader.exe" tool already, then search the forum for a seperate download.

Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately this method doesn't work. The files are exactly the same so different hash is not the reason.
    Any other alternative?
