Good day to you all, I'm new here and this is my first post. I have been using XPMCE2005 for a couple of years now and it's ok but I've always wanted something that was more configurable. Then I heard about Media Portal and, at least in paper, it seems to be the closest to what I've been looking for. Anyway, I'm planning to build a small size rig where the OS (XP PRO SP3) will be located in a 4GB compact flash card. Its duties will be handling my pictures, CDs, DVDs, AVIs, MKVs and recording TV shows (non HD for now) to a large HDD. I've been doing research on NLite and I'm going to remove a lot of the clutter that comes with XP. Among the items that I intend to remove are WMPlayer, WPic and Fax Viewer, Internet Explorer and WMessenger. My question is does Media Portal require any of these in order to run? I'd be most happy if it doesn't since I'm not fond of much of the software Microsoft bundles with their OS.
