Do the mods have to be quite so brutal with deleting bug reports? (1 Viewer)

It's rather frustrating when I've taken the time to detail a bug and the steps involved to make it happen only to have my thread deleted due to not posting logs.

The last time this happened it was a bug in the Configuration program and I wasn't sure if that generated logs, which is why I didn't post any. Couldn't you just ask me to add logs rather than deleting my entire post as now all the details of the steps to produce the bug have been lost and I'm not really inclined to bother working them out again as deleting my input gives me the impression that my time and assistance isn't valued.

I understand that logs are useful and necessary most of the time but I just think that you could be a bit more forgiving where someone might have just forgotten to post them or didn't realise they would be useful and perhaps be a bit tougher with serial no-log posters.

    Hi doveman :)

I looked up your deleted post and found it in the "MediaPortal 1.1.0 RC 1" sub forum. This sub forum was specifically created for issues with the just-released version.
    Quote from the release notes:
Please follow the Bugreport guideline when reporting issues. If you don't, then the bugreport will not help our developers and it will be removed to keep the forums clean.

That sub-forum also has the following sticky thread:
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...stemspecs-will-get-your-thread-deleted-77797/
We appreciate every help we get from the community, but posting incomplete reports is not helpful.

This is why all our moderators have the strict order to delete such threads without any warning.

Please follow ::the guideline:: to provide us with the info we need to help you. :)

Shortly after the new release, that specific sub-forum is closely monitored by team members to try and identify and fix problems. Much similar to the SVN-threads that are also closely monitored just after the SVN releases. A lot of valuable developer time and effort go into this.
Sorry for your inconvenience but please understand the plea and the reasoning behind it as described in the quote above.

Be assured that your bug-report, following the guidelines, will be much appreciated :)
