Does MP Truly Support AVI? (1 Viewer)

I read somewhere that MP "converts dvr-ms to avi." I haven't found any info on the MP site that supports that claim.

So, I have three questions:

1. Does MP truly support dvr-ms conversion to avi?
2. If so, how does one do that using MP?
3. Does MP support original capture of TV programming to avi (so it doesn't have to be converted from dvr-ms to avi)?

Thanks to anyone who responds!

1. Not right now, no.
2. It's complicated. Take a look at the tips & tricks forum, there's a lot of info about compression there... https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/forumdisplay.php?f=52 (seems to be harder to find it these days). I made a guide on how to get an automated setup for xvid compression here: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/showthread.php?t=8515 (it's a bit of a pain to get it all set up, but when you do it's hands-free and completely automated).
3. MP's current TV engine records in DVR-MS. The next generation records in MPEG-2, which is easier to convert. As for recording direct to avi I don't think it will ever support this. That functionality is limited to just a few cards out there and it works from what I understand only with the supplied software.

3. DVR-MS is MPEG, just in a wrapper. The new TV server uses MPEG-2 Transport Stream for recording.

Sorry for being a smartass. :p
