does not work in limited user account (1 Viewer)

Ive just built a machine for my father in law and am trying to get MP to run in limited user account. The machine's running XP and is a single-seat setup with tuner cards installed. TV works OK, but the menus are very slow and the drive access to my networked drive is hopelessly slow.

Im kind of confused because it all works fine in the admin account on the same machine.

Its a fresh install, no tricky setup, just mp and codecs and drivers.

Am I missing something? Does MP have to be run with Admin priveleges?

Anyone have any ideas about why the access to the networked drive is so slow in the user account but not in Admin account?

Ok... to answer my own question: MP does not work in Limited User Accounts in XP.

Can be done in Vista though

Seems to me this is poses a security risk. TV Server requires an active internet connection, and forcing MP to run full-time in an Admin account leaves the machine open to exploits.

Anyone care to comment? (any plans to address this?)

If so; not very good news. I really dont want a HTPC-computer in livingroom filled with all kind of stuff that the younger generation want to install. .

well, it is do-able in vista.....

I guess the brunt of delevopment OS wise is probably headed towards W7, so I doubt us poor old XP users will see a fix.
