    Hello MP2 devs,

I don’t know what’s the currently status of dokan in MP2. If I remember correctly, I read some time ago here that the goal is to get as much as possible independent from it or even get rid of it completely, because the project was dead. I found a fork version of the original dokan, its dokanx:
    https://github.com/BenjaminKim/dokanx
Since there is so much other stuff being developed currently, maybe this fork can be useful and can be included in MP2? According to git this version looks like it is being actively developed. What do you think?

    Thanks, Aspik!
That's interesting - last time I had a look at this fork (about a year ago) there was no development activity. Maybe he has started developing again.
I'll have a look at it...

Maybe if he would know that the library is actually used by someone, he would be more active? Maybe if you post on the git page issues and/or missing features that are needed for MP2 the development would speed up? :)

At the moment we are using a lower version (0.5x instead 0.6) because the newer was causing BSODs often.

What could be helpful for us is a better OS support of the DOKAN installer. And we could eliminate the need for using Drive letters and use "folder mounted" filesystem.

On the other hand we already thought about alternatives to DOKAN at all, one idea was to use WebDAV or similar technology.

To be honest, that was the reason why I started to search for more info about dokan. On my Notebook I use very often total commander and with installed dokan it takes 3-4sec to display the drive combobox. I suppose the reason for the slowdown is the virtual drive which comes with dokan.

Could be a reason. But as long the MP2-Client/Server is running all access to DOKAN drives should answer immediately. Only a crashed client or server could leave an orphaned drive which stalls on access. They are "replaced" on next startup of MP2 and removed on correct shutdown.

Other reasons are more often mapped network drives that are not connected, which will cause delays.
