So Dr. Divx supports the dvr-ms file type. I used it to compress a movie. It now has an extension of .divx. I went into configuration, videos and added the extension there.

When in mediaportal, the thumbnail shows up under videos, but when played, all i see is a black screen. A warning pops up saying that it might not be able to play the video, but it will try anyway.

I am able to play the video outside of media portal in windows media player or the divx player.

any ideas

.divx is not a format, avi is the format that Divx produces (mpeg file with encoding information).

And there seems to be a bit of a screw up on video at the moment, as have same problem, it's like a codec has been corrupted and even system restore has not cured it.
So for me it looks like a reinstall of XP at the weekend.

seems like if i use the regular divx compressions, it works.

problem is, the video list will only see the divx file if is viewed by filename. if its viewed by title, it wont show it. i guess since it lost the dvr-mm wrapper in the compression
