Hi,

Just build my new HTPC and it's working fine.. I can view the WMV-HD clips and will soon order some WMV-HD DVD's from Amazon. I noticed that the WMV-HD clips don't sent multichannel audio via de SPDIF to the receiver.. Only then I realized something obvious, WMV-HD doesn't contain audio in DD or DTS format ;-)

It seems that the easiest way around is getting the Creative Home Theator Connect DTS-610.. A device that accepts 5.1 cables and converts it to DTS.

So I will jank the SPDIF cable from the PC. Hookup the 5.1 cables to the DTS-610 and connect the SPDIF cable to the DTS-610..

The WMA of the WMV-HD media will go out over the 5.1 channels and arrive as DTS on my receiver...

That would work I guess? The DVD player software in Media portal will sent DD out over the 5.1 channels as well? or does that always need SPDIF (this is probably a stupid question)

A search didn't reveal anyone with this setup. Are people using this?

Tx,
Bas

Unless you need receiver only supports digital inputs, its probably a waste. As much as I dislike Creative, theres 2 things wrong with that product. Converting digital->analogue->digital is pointless in terms of retaining quality and Ive read that thing has noticable audio lag.

Why not an internal DDL/DTS encoding card? They would probaly be cheaper and do not have the problems. HDA have the X-Mystique/X-plosion at the moment and there is also a new Oxygen HD (not sure on the price but its supposed to be top of the line) card coming out.

That's a good point, I had read the reviews but not thought about using it for this problem. I already have some many cables that the single SPDIF cable is attractive :)

    Tx for the tip
