Hi everyone, I have a question about DVB-EPG grabbing. I am using the modified TSWriter.ax from DJBlu to grab Freesat EPG data in the UK (DVB-S), this works great and gives me 7 days of guide data. For my DVB-T channels this is picked up OTA too.

I have my settings in General -> EPG set to grab EPG data, the always try to fill holes is also ticked, update all programs is unticked (to reduce CPU usage). I have the timeout of both timeshifting and idle set to 30 minutes and the refresh idle setting set to 240 minutes. Finally in the TV and radio channels i have all of them ticked and set to grab EPG data for selected channels only.

The issue that I have is that sometime the EPG data just doesnt seem to populate and I suddenly end up with only 24 hours of EPG and have to press the EPG refresh button in Manual control to get my 7 days back.

Am I missing something in the settings? My PC sleeps after 5 mins of idle, but if the EPG is grabbing this should prevent sleep right? The refresh time of 240 minutes would mean that if the PC wakes up after 5 hours it should realise that the 240 mins has passed right? And also the 30 minute timeout is the time for EPG grabbing to complete?

Any help appreciated :D

Epg related

I wonder how many hours are there available to see in epg at a time? Somehow I can see only three hours ahead and if I check some another day ahead it shows exactly the same hours at that time. Of course in general for example WebEPG can crab as many days as there are available, but only shows those hours at the time. The similar guide in my Humax digibox shows always at least 24 hours ahead. Maybe there is some setting in MP that I have missed here.

I'm using MP 1.1.0 beta and my EPG only goes until 6am in the morning.. even now at 22:25 it only shows data until 6:00. I've no idea why this is but I really want to fix it - it's stopping me recording stuff when I'm not at home.

I've been wondering if there's a setting somewhere to fix this?

Binny.

Epg's overlapping tv shows

Thanks for your reply binman.

I discovered that there is actually a way to see epg forward. So I guess that this kind of behaviour is just a feature, not a bug or something like that and MP's epg has designed to work that way. You know, I also bumbed that effect when I was trying to schedule couple of programs on different channels and didn't find them in epg's "normal" guide view until waiting a few hours. Perhaps you already know that, but for me it was a new thing. The point is that sometimes it would be useful to see overlapping programs in the same guide view several hours forward.

Hmm. Mine doesn't even do that - the EPG simply cuts off at 6am no matter what. I've got a Dreambox 500c connected to the same cable input and the EPG is fine on that.

I attach some screenshots. They were taken 12:28pm today (Thursday) and I've scrolled forward to 6am tomorrow morning.

Can any one suggest why this is happening?

Cheers.

It wouldn't depend on the skin you're using? Maybe if you're not using WebEPG plugin (TV Server Configuration) you probably won't get more information than that. It's just a thought. Before I started using WebEPG, I got only a short list by default.

It's really odd that the EPG look-ahead would be so short though. There must be a way to tweak or modify it... seems like a really significant shortcoming if there isn't.
