The fact that you get a better signal by mistuning your LNB might warrant investigation. The fact that you can tune channels but have to set Vpol instead of Hpol and mistune freq. suggests your dish might not be pointing at the sat you think it is. So you are actually tuning with the wrong transponder list. If this is not so then there could be something wrong with your cable dish etc. If you share feed with other rooms etc then how are you connecting multiple tuners to a single LNB? Hopefully each tuner card sees its own LNB channel. If not then this may be the problem as each will be trying to control the polarisation and band by 22kHz tone and DC voltage and this will not end well. Could your LNB be defective? LNBs often have an adjustable on board Data Rate Oscillator. On some old quality analogue recivers there was sometimes a setting called DRO offset. This was an offset frequency to compensate for the oscillator on the LNB being slightly mistuned. This oscillator is used to down convert the microwave signals to lower frequency to your tuner card. Frequency shift can be a function of temperature so on hot (or cold days) different offsets might be needed for picking up very weak signals. Some LNBs have little presets inside to tweak the DRO frequency. To set presets tune to a strong signal with tuner card set to exact frequency of transmission and adjust for best sig strength. Also is your dish accurately aligned on the sat? Can you tweak its position slightly and improve signal strength.? Does dish have a clear view of the sky or is a tree in the way? Is your LNB cable one complete length or is it joined? Is the cable badly kinked? Is cable correctly weather proofed at LNB (or is your cable full of water?) Can you try a different LNB? Hope some of the above helps. Kev
