DVB-IP is "real" IPTV - not to be confused with web TV etc.

It is in many ways the same as other DVB-broadcasting, but the STB gets the signal from a CAT5 instead of a dish/aerial/cable. My IPTV is provided via optical fiber --> Telsey home central --- CAT5 ---> STB (yup, no smart card, so I can't ditch it :().

Thanks for the reply Spragle... but i am still confused.
What do i do to use it ? Do i need to subscribe to a service ?
Where does the "signal" come from / go to ?

    Thanks

You can only use it if you have a IPTV supplier on your broadband connection.

The signal comes over the internet, or at least from your ISP through your cable or ADSL connection.

It's there because it is a software layer only, as no hardware is needed for it, everyone gets it in their TVServer configuration.

Well, an additional network card is often needed :)

    To answer your Q:
If you don't subscribe to a (paid) service (like other DVB), then it is of no use (like funkstar said before me).

Ha. If you want to continue using MP, then I bet you don't want IPTV, as it seldom (?) uses smart-card (the STB is often a little linux thingy w/built in encryption system/middleware)
