Because Tv Server supports only MPEG2 TS streams.

    don't support also h264 ?

    For MPEG standards:
    part 1 = system
    part 2 = video
    part 3 = audio

MPEG 2 TS = MPEG 2 part 1 (transport stream)
A TS is like MKV, MP4, AVI - a container. It could contain MPEG 1 video/audio, MPEG 2 video/audio, AC3/DD audio, h.264 video, AAC audio...

So, answer = yes, h.264 will be supported! :)

MPEG2 TS is container (like AVI, MKV, MP4, ...). Each container can have several streams: video, audio, subtitles, etc. Each stream can have its own codec (if not limited by container), e.g. for video H264, MPEG2, for audio AAC, MP3, MPGA, for subtitles SSA, SRT, SUB, etc.

TV Server supports MPEG2 TS container, which can have several streams, but codecs for each type of stream is limited by DVB specification (for video H264 or MPEG2, for audio MPGA or AAC, for subtitles I don't know now). I hope that now it is clearer.

can we then differ between formats that are compatible with DVB specs, and those that are incompatible? because in 1st case we don't need to reencode streams, but just remux them in TS container. The reason to do it - remuxing is muuuch faster that reencoding.

I'm not aware of any plan to re-encode. We have no license to distribute an encoder, so I think it would be a bad idea to start distributing ffmpeg or similar in the MP installer. In other words: absolutely we can remux... but for that we need a muxer... which is what I'm working on for the last few weeks. ;)

Changed FFmpeg libraries are integral part of splitter, so must be distributed with splitter. In another case splitter will not work. So, if we can't distribute these libraries, then whole merge project is useless.

So you had already included ffmpeg in the URL splitter filter?

Yes, in OnlineVideos and also in merge project (MP1-4155).
I'm not saying it is absolutely forbidden to include it, but I think we should definitely agree as a team before proceeding. We have always been careful about such things. This is why the LAV codecs can be downloaded during install, but are not included in the installer package.

Good to know, but I spent last month with merging both filters into one. I hope that it wasn't wasted time. Anyway, we can do same as with LAV filters for merged IPTV/splitter.

Sorry - I didn't know else I would have warned you (I don't use OnlineVideos). How heavily is it used? Would it be impossible to replace?
