My question is with your new filter, it will be possible to play web stream from the tv server? Like the online videos streams?it will be nice to use our favourite webstreams inside the tv section like normal channels.
I do not promise, but it is planned at least to try it.

I have IPTV (UDP stream) from my ISP which I can watch using VLC on my PC, I tried Media Portal with TV-Server Configuration as on
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...ver_Configuration/02_TV_Servers/6_Scan_DVB-IP
the scan took a long time to complete but listed all my channels, but than what? I open Media center & found nothing. How do I watch the channels? I couldn't find any guidance. When I opend DVB IP configuration in 'TV-Server Configuration' there was nothing saved, Can someone please give a detailed guide?
Thanks in advance for any help

Thanks for reply to both of you, I am a non techi user looking for a better alternate (with more functionality than VLC player, but I find this software very daunting, even though you guys are putting in a lot of effort, this software requires a huge amount of work before it can be useful to non techis. I spent about an hour converting my m3u file to the format similar to other files in the dvpip folder, than another hour scanning the channels in TV-server config but when I clicked 'OK' every thing vanished, Nothing found in MP interface, a very big disappointment! I cant understand anything in MediaPortal Wiki > MediaPortal 1 > Configuration Tools > TV-Server Configuration > TV Channels, If someone can give a step to step guide on how to run IPTV channels in this programe I will give it a try otherwise it's goodby.
    Regards

If someone can give a step to step guide on how to run IPTV channels in this programe I will give it a try otherwise it's goodby.
    1. Close MediaPortal.
    2. Open TV Server configuration (link on your desktop).
    3. Go to the "TV Channels" section.
    4. Click the "add" button in the "channel groups" section. Enter any name for the group (eg. "IPTV") and click OK. Now you can see a new tab for the group up the top beside "All Channels".
    5. Select the channels you want to add to the group by holding down shift and using the arrow keys (like other software with lists).
    6. Right click on the selected channels, use the mouse to expand the "add to group" list, then select the group you created in step 4.
    7. Close TV Server configuration (click OK).
    8. Open MediaPortal configuration.
    9. Go to the "TV codecs" tab in the "codecs and renderer" section.
    10. Select LAV video or LAV audio for all settings except audio renderer (if LAV is not an option because you didn't install it, choose the Microsoft DTV/DVD options instead).
    11. Close MedaPortal configuration (click OK).
Now you should be able to open MediaPortal and view your channels. :)

Thank you for your excellent guide, I was able to set the channels & view on TV from home screen but the sound is in the form of just a few squeaks. please tell me how to fix that. & one question if you don't mind please, are you people doing this project as an exercise for software development work or as an application for the masses, if your answer is 'exercise for software development work' than you should mention this prominently on your web page so that only people interested in this project will try it, but if you are trying to develop a software for common man than I must say it is the most user unfriendly media software i have come across, I have tried XBMC & left because I found it to be difficult to configure & the 'Free TV channels plugins' were mostly useless.
Thanks again for your time to reply my questions

It's not needed when you have one card of same type.

    Hello and welcome Shahi :)
I think you need to create a channel group and add your IPTV channels to the group.
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...ration/TV-Server_Configuration/03_TV_Channels
All scanned channels should go at least to 'All Channels' group and can be accessed in MP through TV -> Channel.

For this we need your logs (how to you'll find under my post).

It is for masses, but I agree that configuration is not very well (e.g. without keyboard and mouse, on big flat screen and HTPC with remote control). And also IPTV is really complicated by fact, that there is almost none standard card (like for DVB-T, DVB-S or DVB-C) and many providers doesn't follow specifications.

I would also be really interested in this. As I understand it however, the MP TV Engine only supports MPEG-TS, so streams probably will need to be transcoded. I found another VLC-based source filter (https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/threads/vlc-source-filter-for-tv-server.102734/) but this is quite old so I haven't tried it yet. Maybe you can incorporate something similar in your filter?

Another option would probably be to run a separate instance of VLC in VLM mode, with the internet streams configured as VOD streams (see https://wiki.videolan.org/Documentation:Streaming_HowTo/VLM/). Whenever such a stream is requested (by MP TVE or any other program), VLC will start transcoding and streaming the requested internet stream. I have played around a little with this, but haven't got anything to work yet. Anyone else wants to try?

Edit: Since I couldn't get VLC VOD running reliably, I have implemented by own VOD server that allows internet streams to be used with the standard MediaPortal DVB-IP tuner. Please see this thread for more information: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/threads/vodserver-watch-internet-streams-as-tv-channels.121732/
