Well, I have rookie question ;)
I built HTPC with one DVB-S card and one analog card. It was very easy to setup analog TV signal by using channel scan in MP setup.
I do not know any parameters for my DVB-S signal. I simply have F connector in the wall, connected proper cable but nothing is happening when I scan on card in MP. I do not know which satelite is available. Is there any software utility which can scan on cable and help me determine proper parameters?

Hi

I would recommend to use a software which came with the sat card to do an initial scan. Depending on the model you will have different programs available. You may also use a normal sat receiver from a friend or neighbour.

In Europe the most commonly used satellites are Astra 19 deg and Hotbird 13 deg.

Check that you have a cable behind your connector in the wall. Do you have a dish on the roof? If yes, can you see how many LNB (receivers) are there? If its more than one it gets more complicated because you need to know the diseqc switching order.

If we know the the diseqc switching order?
with MP don´t switch more of one LNB with parabolic monoblock in you roof
People have dual feed and can´t switch between lnb´s
Is there solution ?

thanks
