DVB-S2 Card (1 Viewer)

Hi all

I am thinking of adding a DVB-S2 to be used in my MP driven HTPC

Can anyone reccomend a card of this type to be used I can't find much info on the forum

So would be interested to hear abour peoples experiences with any s2 cards

I have a firedtv external box that works a treat. They also do an internal version called floppydtv. Both need a firewire connection though.

Thanks for that I saw that card was in the Recommended Hardware section but I don't have firewire so I sort of discounted it, and I don't really want an external box PCI or PCI express would be my preference

Well I've just got hold of a WinTV NovaHD (which is S2) but not yet installed my dish so I can't tell you exactly what it's like but it is picked up OK in TVServer config

I only went for the external firedtv due to the fact my server only takes low profile cards. Otherwise that NovaHD looks a pretty good bet.

Ye I have been reading about that card on a Sat Forum and has got pretty good reviews. can you let me know how it goes when you actually try and use it with MP

I use both FloppyDTV DVB-S2 (same as firedtv but internal) and WinTV Nova S2 and can reccomend both - they both work flawlessly with TV Server.

Dont worry about firewire just get a firewire pci card - dont cost much at all.

Thanks for that mate, think I will give the Nova S2 a try now just got to find one everywhere seems out of stock

Any tips and tricks on setting it up?
