Hi,

I am about to finish my HTPC project :D . BUT I am missing one of the most important things - the tuner card.

Anyone know what to buy if I need:

* DVB-T tuner

* Analogue tuner

* Hardware decoding for both analogue and DVB-T

Is there a single card that can handle all 3 things or must I buy 2 cards?

:D

Regards,
Michael

    I think you want a hardware encoding analogue card + DVB-T? If so, the HVR-1300 might be what you need. Personally I'd rather have two separate cards, as the HVR-1300 can't use both tuners simultaneously.

    Also (somebody correct me if I am wrong): I don't think there is HW and SW DVB-T cards.... No encoding is done (except in software)

    Stream is mpeg2 anyway, so no problems there then :D

    Then of course there are those that may break the DVB standard, or the other side is a new one comes out (HD dvb for example, mpeg4 or corrupt derivitive).

    Hey always up for discussion, I like changes, got another spanner anyone ;)

    This is a SW-card (99 % certain). Many ppl here (in the forum) have had trouble with this and simular cards. HVR-1300 and 4000 (both Hauppauge) are the ONLY hybrid I know of that has a HW-encoder.

    :sorry:

    Anyway: There will soon (?) be new cards available; the HVR-1700 and HVR-1400. I believe these are PCIe and Express Card.
