Hi,

Since we in denmark are getting national ground based DVB-T signal from 31th March. I was wondering what I would need, to use it together with MP.

I can tell that I got a 28" Wide Screen TV, and would like to be able to use the widescreen as I do today with the analog single from DR (Danish Radio).

Currently I got a Hauppage 150 card and that one don't seem to support widescreen from the analog single.

You'll need a DVB-T card like the hauppauge nova-t

Unfortunately dvb-subtitles are not ready for mainstream use yet. There are a few people working on it but it not in the cvs (last time i looked)

So afaik we're left with 2 choices. myTheatre or MythTV (or the software that comes with the tuner - i.e wintv2k from hauppauge both it does not support more than one tuner)

Windows XP MCE does _not_ support dvb-subtitle and according to microsoft denmark it is not likely to be supported ...

How about widescreen programs, are they gonna be a problem, with the a Nova-T ?

Nope the Nova-T works like a charm.

I've mostly used mce since last summer (because i had trouble with mediaportal at that time) So when mce worked prette reliably i just left it at that - but a few week ago the broadcast from Nibe changed to broadcasting dvb subtitles enstead og just blending the subtitles into the pictures like the analogue brodcast.

So right now i'm testing mythtv on a secondary machine and have played a bit with mediaportal on the primary (as well as myTheatre)

So the only missing feature for me right now is subtitles :)

Thanks for the great response majland. But as allways I got another question. :)

I'm currently looking at Hauppauge HVR-1300 MCE or NOVA-t PCI MCE, can't make up my mind.

Next question is:

What would be recomended for the video/gfx card, since that one makes the output to the tv.

Currently I got a GeForce FX5200 is that one good enough.

I have also looked at the Hauppauge Nexus CA PCI, since that one got TV-out and audio-out, which I really dont get why. (Hauppauge isnt the best company to tell about all the futures of there products/specfications)

Do you need another analogue tuner ? if not you can stick with the cheaper nova card (also know as technotrend budget)

Your graphic card should be good enough if you are happy with its tv-out.

DVB-T will be FTA at least untill 2009 - and there is no plans for wthat coding schemes commercial channels will be using then when the analogue transmitter closes down. But the ones available now (DR1, DR2 and TV2) will probably remain FTA.

btw do you know news://dk.teknik.htpc

No I didnt, gonna look into it :)

This is great, then I'm gonna go with the Nova-T MCE card. Since that one comes with the Microsoft Remote, and that one is far better then the standard Hauppauge remote.

Thanks again for the help.

Next Question:
Is it possible to use the MCE remote to turn on the TV, so I dont need 2 remotes ?
As far as I have managed to find out its not possible with the Hauppauge remote.

Hi, prozacdk and majland..

I also live in Denmark and I have just received a Hauppauge Nova-t PCI board, but I have some problems with it... When watching tv (which is in really good quallity) it sometimes pauses the video and/or the sound for a short period of time.. This time interval between these pauses is decreasing over time, if I keep watching.

This problem is not only when running with MediaPortal, but also in WinTV2000..

If you do not have this problem it must lie somwhere in the rest of my HTPC. (With my Hauppauge PVR500 I do not have this problem) - I do not run with both cards at the same time.

I would really appreaciate a comment to this problem, from anybody using this board / that have any related info.

Thanx in advance, Kenneth Egholm - Denmark.

My THPC:
Silverstone LaScala LC13, MSI K7N2 Delta2, AMD Athlon 3200+, 512 MB Kingston DDR3200, Club3D GeForce 6600GT, Hauppauge WinTV PVR-500MCE
Mods: Passive cooled North Bridge and GFX card.
