Recently I was let a mini USB2 DVB-T tuner (Airis G807, which is supported in newer SVN builds). I have a Hauppauge PVR 350 in my HTPC, so I tought it would be a good chance to test DVB-T.

The problem is that I get no audio in some channels: Telecinco, Telecinco Estrellas, Telecinco Sports (notice the pattern) and 3/24. Initially I blamed the drivers, but reinstalling them or restoring the system to a clean Ghost image and starting from there didn't help. I tried appliying newer SVN versions up to 5-5-2006, but no luck. Deleting configuration and starting over did not help either. Since the tuner wasn't mine, I had no more time to test it further. But I have another computer with a Pinnacle MediaCenter 300i (DVB-T and analog tv software render). I installed RC4 on this computer and same thing! No audio on those channels. Do I need to install a special codec to get audio or what?

Right now I just want some feedback, surely I'm not the only Spanish user of MediaPortal with DVB-T. If needed I will post the logs.

    Hi,

This would be me best guess, yes. I dunno if DVB-T uses AC3 streams but it maybee. So you could give AC3 Filter a try.

    How about recordings?

I'll try tonight. But I'm already using the MPEG/AC3/DTS/PCM internal codec...

That was it! :) I installed this AC3 codec, selected it for TV in the setup and got audio on channel 3/24 and all Telecinco channels. But on Telecinco channels audio stuttered. So I selected the Intervideo Non CSS Audio Decoder instead (I guess this was installed with my Hauppauge PVR-350 tuner) and voilà, perfect audio on all channels.

Which bring to the question of why the internal audio codec does not work for those four channels? From the tests done I know it’s not a specific problem of my computer, most likely anybody in Spain with a DVB-T tuner using the internal codec will have the same problem.

Did you have the internal codec setup correctly?

If you are using analogue connections and you selected pass spdif you would hear no sound on AC3 channels.

If your using a digital connection and selected decode youd also hear nothing on AC3 channels.

I have set it to decode to stereo, because I'm sending the audio and video through scart to the TV. How should I set it to get AC3 audio and mpeg audio?

BTW, thanks for the help! :)

Because it's likely that other users will find the same problem... So maybe I should log in the Test Team Website and submit it as a bug :) .
