Hi all.
I just went and forked out about 2 grand on the parts for a htpc.
I have built a few HTPC's before using mediaportal, never ever had a problem. Not one.
So why is it that when I build one myself it wont work?
My problem is that whenever I try do anything with the tv tuner it says "unable to create graph error".
I uninstalled mediaportal 2 rc 4, then tried 1.3, and it works fine, if horridly slow. Im talking 20 seconds at least to change channels, then choppy as hell.
I then tried 2.0 RC 3 and got the same problem.
Now i dont know anything about graph editing or anything like that, nor do I know about pastebinning. I just want to know what could have caused my card to not work in rc2?
If it worked before, why make it stop work? i dont understand.
Please somebody help me. I couldnt really afford all this hardware in the firstplace but I wanted to buy something nice to show for how hard I work, and I get this crap.
Please!
-Ash

never mind, I found out rc 3 and 4 have software card support completely removed... well thats just f*ing stupid. Why take out the support before you have developed the new support? you really should have left that stuff in there and just replaced it when you found out the new way of doing things.
So i have just wasted 8 hours of my life trying to get something to work that never will. If you took out the software support, maybe you should have atleast put in a little error message when i click on my clearly detected card that says something like "sorry, software dvb card support has been removed" instead of the oh so generic "graph error" crap.
The only reference you put to this is in the forums in hardware support, in a tab that no one would think to navigate. "help us add support for your software card" when my card was already listed as supported. What the hell?
Now i am downloading an obsolete version just to run my hardware.
Seriously, with meedio dead i thought you guys would step this up a notch, see it as a great oppurtunity. Instead I see an inflexible ugly looking frontend which is sadly the only useable one left, which didnt have BASIC SHORTCUT SUPPORT until i screamed out for it.
Wake up! YOU ARE OUR LAST HOPE!
You need to make this damn thing more modular! forget the home screen. Take a note out of the buggy meedio book. They had a great way of using their front end. Adding shortcut like items that did different functions, and even putting these inside subfolders.
Please, think about your aesthetics and useability, and your user support.

I suggest you re-read some of those threads. Software dvb card support WAS NOT removed. Software analogue card support was removed and was replaced by a much much better different system.

So unless your using the analogue in on that card you shouldnt be effected what so ever. If you are using the analogue input and it did effect you, then it may need to specifically added (just like every other card has/will needed.

    Hi Ash,
Mate your Dvico Lite is a hardware encoding card and is listed as supported, see link below:
    https://www.team-mediaportal.com/mpwiki/Supported_TVCard_DVBt

so I don't think that this is your problem, I personally am running 2 dvico cards in my box and other than a few drop out issues everything is sweet. :)

I do understand you frustration, sometimes things don't work for no apparent reason and you can spend hours trying everything you can think of and still get absolutely nowhere
So a suggestion from somebody that has been where you are now...

Fill out the support template found here:
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/viewtopic.php?t=6438

    Paste your logs here:
    http://mp.pastebin.com
    Carefully follow all instructions

One thing I have found with Media Portal, bitching gets you nowhere, ask for help and the community does.

    Cheers

I have a dVico lite DTV card working fine.

Seriously, when you are looking for people to help you for nothing, out of their own time you really need to be a little nicer.

So if 1.3 works for you and .2 doesn't, then the drivers must be ok and the problem is with your configuration.
If all that is getting too confusing, try a complete reinstall.

I never used Meedio, but the attitude of some of the ex users who come here makes me think that the Medio devs must really have responded well to demands or otherwise the software was 100% perfect

Just for your interest, DVB cards are software cards, simply because the format received by from the TV station is already in mpeg2 (so no conversion necessary). But yes, its definately supported.
