These cards are available now in the UK, I'm interested as it'll do HDTV, having read some posts in this and other sites, I do have a few questions though.

  • Is one tuner presented on PCI and one on USB?
What is the USB port on the back for?
Is it a hardware encoding card?
Have you got it working fully with MP?
If you sourced it in the UK, where from?
Feel free to post any other useful information about your experiences with this card.

Cheers

    Hi Cheezey

Ordering mine Thursday (Payday and the price has come down to £114) The USB looking connector is for the remote.
One RF aerial input, one sound output and a svhs/composite connection.
Both TV cards go through the PCI bus.

Still trying to find out if their will ever be HDTV broadcast over FREEVIEW, but at the end of the day, a dual card with one aerial input sounds quite an attractive idea. (watch and record different channels)

    Regards

I was under the impression that 1 was USB and the other PCI. That page also lists a remote control port seperately.

It is a software card, yes.

There's also http://www.kjglobal.co.uk/acatalog/TV_Cards.html which is slightly cheaper.

I was under the impression one of the cards ran over PCI but the other was USB and needed a connection to an internal USB header or an external USB port (via its USB connector).

As for Freewiew & HDTV, it doesn't look likely there will ever be much HDTV on Freeview, see the question When will I be able to watch the BBC’s High Definition programmes on Freeview? in this article. http://www.bbc.co.uk/reception/digital_tv/hdfaqs.shtml :(

With that, and the fact it's a software card - I might look at something else.

Sorry if I'm being obtuse, but this is a DVB card, so how can it be a software card? It doesn't need to do any encoding, as the DVB stream is already MPEG2.

Well the card has both analogue and DVB on that board. The DVB broadcasts are in MPEG2 already so no extra hardware is needed. Its just like any other dvb card really.

When the poster asked if it was a software card, I meant yes the analogue inputs are software inputs.

I can confirm that the Dvico fusionhdtv dual tuner card does indeed use the PCI slot for 1 tuner and the usb for the 2nd tuner. I've just bought one of these and found out the hard way about the 2nd tuner :?

I can't really say much more about the card as i really need to get a bigger HD for the machine before i can really start to play around.

    Hi All

Installed mine on tuesday, about 30 minutes in all and SUPERB.
MP found all the channels and combined them. So watching one channel whilst recording another is now a breeze,
also now watching through my new philips 26" HDTV (DVI to HDMI).

Best two things ive bought for a long while well worth the wait and the money.

    Got to go, busy playing.

    :D :D :D

    ps. callifo was right

Just a quick follow up to above, who the hell designed the dvico remote, it is the most UGLY and unintuitive piece of shit i have ever seen.
Thank God for MediaPortal and MS remote.

In the bin it must go. eh aye, eh aye, oh.
