How do you adjust brightness/contrast settings in ffdshow's DVXA codec? Im using ffdshow for my h264 video content (with SAF6) but cant see any options in the config.

TIA.

I don't think it's possible (there's no controls for it in FFDShow DXVA config)

Tony

Thats what i thought, it seems odd because how are you supposed adjust settings for hi-def content? I guess if its not possible ill have to turn alter the settings on my gfx card for overall colour settings, and then readjust the settings back for every other codec.

Well, since it's DXVA, you have to do it via the video settings of your GPU driver. This should not affect software decoded material.

What I found regarding this, was just changing video settings to gpu brought out a lot more detail in dark movies like Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1, did not need to change any settings even, makes movie a lot more watchable :)

But doesnt changing the gpu settings affect all video content types (ie mpeg2 video thats decoded with ffdshow video codec)?

If i increase the brightness on the gpu so that mpeg4 video (h264) is perfect, wont my mpeg2 (dvd rips) be too bright?

If you are decoding in hardware through the ffdshow video codec, then yes, I think so. But it doesn't hurt to try it out ;). Try some extreme settings at first, to figure out which or whether all videos are affected.

Although in the ffdshow video decoder (without DXVA), you might be able to alter such settings (within the codec), even if you are doing hardware deinterlacing through ffdshow, I am not sure.

I really did not notice any difference on SD, just dark HD material, we are not talking mega adjustments, just possibly 1 or 2 percent on the brightness makes a big difference.
