I'm somewhat familiar with PVR programs, having used GBPVR for years, but I'm having some problems determining the easiest way to get a complete, local EPG in MP. What is the most trouble free, straightforward method to get an EPG with accurate, local listings and channel mappings?

Hi, and welcome

Well, this all depends on your system. If you have digital TV (DVB-S/T/C) you most probably can receive the information through the stream. If not, depending on where in the world you are you can use the webepg plugin which will grab the information from different web sites.

I have an HVR2250 dual tuner, and my signal is Clear QAM. DVB only gets me about a third of my channels. I'm in Frankfort, KY. USA.

    Hi and welcome skycyclepilot

I would say Schedules Direct (home page here) or mc2xml with the XMLTV plugin are your best options.

With SD, you set up an account and line-up on their website then use the linked plugin (version svn26) to link the guide data to your channels in MP. The best way to do this is to rename the channels in TV Server to match the call sign in Schedules Direct.

With mc2xml, you configure mc2xml to download the guide listings into an XMLTV file (tvguide.xml) that can be imported into MP via the TV Server XMLTV plugin mentioned above. The link I provided has very good instructions for configuring the XMLTV plugin once you have the XML file.
