Hello Guys !

Here is a feature request, that probably will never be implented, but I´d love to have that one.

What about a editing function, which enables the user to cut recorded streams espacilly to remove commercials.
I´d love to have a function, that allows the user to mark any area in a timeshifted stream ( for example by setting IN and OUT points ). When, for example the commercials are marked, the user should be able to choose if he wants to keep the selected part or if he wants to remove that part.
In general it would be good, if there was a possibility to record a timeshifted show. Sometimes I watch in timeshifting mode an then realise that it´s a good movie and I´d like to keep it on HDD. But I think until know it´s not possible to record the complete movie if you haven´t started recording at it´s very beginning (( with "my" ediditing function that problem would be solved ) Ok, it´s possible to copy the files in the timshifting temp folder, but that´s not really the nicest way).

Another request is an plugin that makes DVDs, but I know that´s not easy, because of dvr-ms, the menu, the DVD-Writer drivers and so on.
But having both functions would be absolutly great.

Oh I forgot to mention, that I really love MP and it´s the best solution I know ( I´ve really tested very much media center softwares but since I know MP I know where I´m gonna stay ).

Thanks for your great work,

Tobi

    Hi,

Gucky is working on a converting (dvr-ms -> mpeg + divx(?)) / cutting (? afaik based on VirtualDub) / burning tool (DVD / SVCD). It will be implemented in one of the next releases. So stay tuned. :)

Yeah an editing function would be very cool.

    Some additional thoughts:
    - Timeshift should not have a fixed "buffer" instead of recording everything untill the hdd is full like on my old hdd recorder
    - I don't know if I heard of this feature in connection with media portal, but when you timeshift a show and then press record, it should look for the start time in epg and then compare with the timeshift buffer of a recording of the same channel and time exists.
    - Maybe one of these anti-commercial services could be used. MP just gets the Commercial-Times (country-specific) and then automatically cuts it out by just pressing a button.

I haven't tried it, but according to the MP documenation, doesn't MP already support this - provided the timeshifting default is set to on?
