One of the entries mentioned an AstonCrypt 1.07 with firmware 2.23 or later as a possible solution. I managed to find a second hand CAM on a local website and it works beautifully. Slid the card into the cam (very fragile design though), selected an HD channel that previously would've given me either an error or a corrupted stream and i had a nice a clear stream.
