EPG guide for NZ, tvguide.xml file?? (1 Viewer)

I have just installed RC4 everything is working sweet as apart from the EPG guide.... How do you import the tv guide? I have tried importing in the TV server config. settings but it says tvguide.xml:No xmltv file found? how do you generate a tvguide.xml file? any help would be much appreiciated

Your question is a little vague, are you using 4TR or standard TV.. I recommend you use FreeviewtoXM. Works well..

This program will create the 8day epg tvguide.xml you need for freeviewHD. It does this by scraping the EPG data over the internet.

FreeviewtoXML.zip -> MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

extract this file to tvserver folder
run the .exe file
then load tvserver config
enable xmltv plugin
import guide
then setup channels so the channels match the guide
then click save
then go back and re-click import
save and close tvserver config

now setup a scheduled task that will run the .exe file every day to keep the guide up to date

Done!

There is an alternative method of getting the 8 day epg using the DVB-T freeview transmission stream (no internet required)

The advantage of doing it this way is that if the internet feed changes then it will still work. The disadvantage is that one of the tvtuners is unavailable during the epg scan, so you have to run the grabber at a time when your less likely to be recording/watching tv.

I just download the FreeviewToXMLTV file, put it in C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server, tried to run the .exe, but error message?

Is there something I have done wrong?

yup mine stop working recently too
I switched to this - EPG Collector | Download EPG Collector software for free at SourceForge.net
install the files into the mp tv server directory
then run the gui configuration program
then save the configuration you have made in the GUI as the default configuration file
then run the collector executable each time you want to update the epg
it updates the epg using the DVB-T epg stream

Thanks got EPG Collector going, but what settings are you using?
I seem to only get what's on and whats next at the time of the collection, everything else is undefined?

Using DVB-T
Country - NZ
Area - Auckland Waiatarua
Scanning Freq - 538000, 570000, 666000
Collection type - EIT

I haven't selected any of the options in Output or advanced tabs

Any thought?

Hi there

You have to collect MHEG 5 for the 8 day guide. EIT has the full guide on Freeview satellite, but only now/next data on Freeview | HD.
