Hi.

I have installed MediaPortal and created a tvguide.xml file in a folder with xmltv.dtd
I can not see any channel and programs in MediaPortal.
when i look at the server configuration xml importer, it says:
Total Channels Imported : 146
Total Programs Imported : 0

I can not see any channel in the list of channels and no programs.

What is the problem ?

Thanks

You need a TvGuide.xml that actually has programinfo in it. There are a few different program to use for downloading info from the internet, such as the MP DVB epg. never used that one though....

    Hi and welcome...

You need to scan in or create your channels in TV Server configuration, then follow the guide for XMLTV setup -->here<-- to get guide data associated with each channel. Finally, create one or more channel groups (in the TV Channels section of TV Server configuration) or enable viewing the "all channels" group (untick "hide all channels group" -->here<--) so that you can see channels in MediaPortal.

    Gday mm1352000

Can you offer any assistance to me?? Im having all sorts of problems with the EPG on my HTPC. I am not using any of the plugins but I am getting the TV guide no problems - Im assuming this is comign through the stream from the broadcasters.

My problem however is that the system is cutting off the end of a TV show that I am recording even though I have set the post record padding to extend 15 minutes.

What am I doing wrong?? What is the best EPG for Australia?? Is XMLTV the best way to go?? If so, what is the best XMLTV guide to use?

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

    Regards
    JCK

I am having issues getting program guide data in MP. I followed the steps in the xmltv guide and I see my listing of channels on the mappings tab after doing a "load/refresh", but I don't have the option of fixing the mapping as it says to do on the xmltv wiki page, "You can fix any incorrect matches using the drop down control in the Guide Channel column". Any idea how I can get my channels mapped? I'm thinking that's the last step in order for me to see EPG data. I've attached a screenshot.

Update: I downloaded the xmltv plugin and unpacked in the "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\xmltv" folder. Then I manually entered some channel information on the TV Mappings tab of WebEPG, configured the General tab "Write Programs to" tvguide.xml file configured in XmlTv Importer plugin" and "Grab Now". This created the tvguide.xml. \

In the xmltv plugin, I set the proper folder for xmltv.dtd to the above mentioned "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\xmltv", left all other default settings and it imported the tvguide.xml. Then I went to the xmltv Mappings tab, refreshed and I had a list of the channels, updated a couple of the sub-channels in the drop down list then saved it. (I wasn't able to find all my local channels in the yahoo/imdb, another issue I'll have to figure out later).

Problem though is that when webepg grabbed the data, it only included programming for home shopping network, but none of the other channels I had manually mapped. So in my TV Guide in MP I have the data for HSN for 14 days but no other channel. I should note that I didn't need to map home shopping network as it was already listed somehow.

Is there anything else I need to do or something I'm missing? What I did above was my best effort at following the WebEPG and xmltv instructions on the wiki - any additional help would be much appreciated. Screenshots below and I can provide logs, just need to know which ones. (Note the 149 programs imported were all for HSN).

I had the same problem. Most of your channels are set to grab info from Yahoo. The problem is that the Yahoo website no longer works as it used to, so WebEPG can't grab the info from it. In fact, there technically is no more Yahoo TV site anymore, as it is now run by Zap2It. The channels which you did grab successfully came from IMDB. However, the IMDB grabber xml file which comes standard with Mediaportal can only grab a few channels (This is why you got data for HSN but not others).

The good news is that the IMDB website does contain all the TV schedule info for every zip code and provider in the US. You can edit that grabber xml file to find all your channels from IMDB. Instructions are here: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/threads/webepg-so-close-but-so-far-away.81886/#post-658178 I just did it and I'm grabbing all my EPG info right now, but it did take a lot of work to get it right.
