EPG SAT Mediahighway2 support? (2 Viewers)

Investigating another different issue I found that the SAT Spanish provider Digital+ uses two different formats for EPG: only transmits EIT data for the current program and the next to be transmitted, but uses MediaHighway2 format to broadcast all the EPG data.

Even though it seems to be feasible to get and use this data with an exdternal program called EPGCollector, I am wondering if there is MediaHighway2 support planned natibvely in TV server or even if it is already in place. All the information I've found in this thread, https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/electronic-program-guide-67/dvbguide-epg-grabbing-alternative-72915/ but it has not been active for more than one year, and even though I am using WebEPG at the moment, maybe I can take advantage of a SkyStar card that is getting dust on a box.

Any help is welcome.

    Hi Manolo

I *think* MHW2 is supported. Certainly MHW1 is, and the MHW2 PID is listed in the code. If it is supported then it will be grabbed automatically when you enable the EPG grabber - in other words the EPG grabber is not just for EIT.

That's great!!! Very good news. By the way when was this feature introduced in the TV Server? I checked it around 2 years ago without success.

Anyway, I gonna take my old SkyStar of the drawer and plug it into the server again. I will report the results.

    Cheers

    Hi again Manolo

Only a quick response since I'm about to head to bed...
SVN shows that MHW2 and MHW1 support was added at the same time by gemx on 25 January 2008. This might have been a refactor though so support could have been added even earlier. If it doesn't work for you then please let us know and we can look into it.

    Hi mm,

I have just checked the D+ epg and I can confirmed that I only get the current program and the next one (as stated in the other thread I mentioned above). The logs are huge, is there any specific set of logs you require or should I send you all?

In my ignorance seems relevant epg.log, error.log and tv.log, but for instance the last one is huge (around 3 MB).

    Thanks in advance

Here they are. I cleaned up a bit the epg.log to get only data from today. I also noticed taht there is an entry "dvb:mhw ready MHW 0 titles found" so it seems as it does not detect the MediaHigway2 data.

Do not hesitate to ask me for any other logs, configs, etc.

    Hi mm,

I don't know if you had the opportunity to take a look at the logs. Anyway I made some research with the help of a tool called EPG Collector (v3.1). Using the information about frequencies used for my sat provider in this page(Packages: Digital+ (Astra) - KingOfSat) and epg collector I was reviwing one by one which epg data was provided with the following findings:
1.- All frequencies but "10847.00 V" have epg data in EIT format for the channels multiplexed in each frequency, but just current and next programs.
2.- Frequency "10847.00 V" have epg data in three different formats: (1) EIT for ALL the programs served my the sat provider regardless they are not multiplexed in this frequency, but only current and next programs. (2) MHEG5 data. It seems to be encripted, because epg-collector is not able to create a xmltv file. (3) Mediahighway2 data for ALL the programs and not only current and next, but arround 5 full days.

The only glitch using epg collector is that the descriptions are cut while in the sat receiver are not, but for this I will try to contact the epg collector developers. AS a conclusion: Either MePo has an issue with the MediaHighway2 support or the way it has set up by the sat provider is unusual (all the data for all teh channels in a single frequency).

If the point is the later, maybe MePo could support some "advance settings" for the epg to select formats and frequencies manually......

    Thanks in advance

The issue in epg collectors about the descriptions cut at the end has been solved with un update to latest patch. By the way, it seems that mm1352000 has been out of this forum for a while => is there any other develper in charge of epg?

    Just wondering.........

All right, maybe if somebody can point me to the specific source code page where the MH2 and EIT support is coded I counld take a look at it. My guess is taht MePo scans the first frequency loking for epg data and when EIT is the only one detected then is the onluy one used, regardless there is epg data in other formats just in one frequency.

    Any help is appreciated. Rgds.
