Above and below some characters I get white "dots", that are onw pixel wide and one or two pixels high. Is this normal or is it an error? Could it be due to upscaling to mye 1680x1050 resolution?

regards

Nop. I have a gf6600GT passively cooled. And the temp is far below "red".

I used to overclock earlier systems, and that would result in random pixel errors in games. This is nothing like it, as it is exactly the same every time. My best bet is that it is some glitch from upscaling to my non-std resolution?

regards
Knut

I just had a look again on the dirty pixels. And I noticed that the problem occurs only with the g!

Here are some small screenshots from the mce skin:

dirty-g.gif

The only skin that is not effected is MetalMedia. Perhaps because it uses another font.

Hope this helps to locate the problem.

I can confirm the bug is there: On g and i (both small caps)

And I have found the source for it in the font.png:

On g it's in the upper left corner of the character box and comes from the upper right part of f
On i it's in the lower right corner of the character box and comes from the lower left part of j

It seems the character boxes in the png is to narrow for this two, and the larger the font is and/or the higher the resulution is, it becomes more constant/worse. Have tried to fix it by edit the png files but some how it comes back, probably by the CVS...

So please, can someone in the dev-team fix this once for all !?

Patience. Someone will fix it after reading this post. I can live with that problem, because it is only cosmetic and not functional.

The problem is not within the skins, because mp generates the files in the skin/skinname/fonts directory. So there ist an error somewhere in the font engine, which generates those files.

If this bug is so important, then edit all the png files in the fonts folder of the skin you use. Just cut of some pixels on the top of the f and the bottom of the j.

You can try with these 2 font16 files in this zip-file. They correct the problem on the main menu of my installation.

Just copy the 2 files to the fonts folder of your favorite skin (mce, BlueTwo or Project X). If it doesn't work, the just delete the 2 files again. MP will create them new on the next start.

I had a look at the fontEngine.cpp, where I suppose the error. But this file is to complex for my programming skills. Perhaps someone else has more fortune.
