Error while getting banners (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I've got a problem while MyTvSeries try to import episodes data.... well... only some of them

All files are correctly parsed: all are white in the "Parsing test" window
When I ask for importing them, all series are found on the net db (well I have to make a choice when necessary but it works good)
Then, for some episodes, all works correctly: banners, plot, etc
But for some of them, nothing at all! I checked on the website, episodes exists... and if look into "Details" tab, all infos are there, Composite Episode ID seems correct (well, as correct as episodes well imported)
More, those episodes are all in the "same" serie: none episode of the serie retreived or all episodes but not half
More again, seasons banners are correctly imported

some examples:
NCIS\NCIS.3x21.Bloodbath.avi
CSI\CSI.101.Pilot.avi

Is there something I have to change in my configuration?
Is there a debug proc I should activate to get more informations? (if sources are available, may be i could help to find the problem... not sure to be able to find a solution )

Versions:
MyTvSeries: current svn snapshot
MP: latest svn snapshot at this time
db size: for test, I limit to 5 series and 150 episodes

Hi and welcome to MP

Did you leave this over a 24 hour period, as the thetvdb.com gets overwhelmed with requests, which usually pan out over a day.

Always worth trying, especially when banners are missing, or any graphics come to that.

only asking as you are new here, so before you start looking for a problem that is temporarily out of your hands, wait till tomorrow.

I looked on wiki page but did not see any mention about this delay, may be I missed it? Is there somewhere a "tips and best way to use MyTvSeries"?

So, yes my first post is not yet 24hours ago but I've got some news I think I should share

TvSeries didn't get informations about those missing episodes... but!!!...

but, i made some tests and the log is very interresting (imho):

the test was: check the option "Download Episode information for the whole series"
and the log shows....:

"Looking for all episodes for CSI"
"Found 1 episodes for CSI"
"Looking for all episodes for NCIS"
"Found 1 episodes for NCSI"

and if I look into "Details" tab, CSI and NCIS series shows all my episodes like before but each serie just shows one epsiode more. A grey episode (meaning "known but not owned" if I understood well): season 1 episode.... 100 for CSI, and season 1 episode... 105 for NCIS. And titles and plot didn't seem to correspond to true episodes (of the season or other... I didn't check accross all my series )

so, from my user-developper POV, I think the script used to get the list of episodes (GetEpisodes.php?) didn't return the correct result, or the result is not correctly interpreted.

"I just did a clean update of my TV series and TV Series Database (erase and rescan).
Used latest MyTVSeries + SVN. al works (shows are added) but only for episode 7 and up (of every series) are tumbnails and episode info added!

So it is like this:

Band Of Brothers
ep 1-6 have no thumbnail and no episode tekst...
ep 7-11 DO have thumbnail and episode info...

Lost
Season 1 ep 1-6 have no info/tumbnails
Season 1 ep 7-24 have all info and tumbnails.....

Very strange.... It works but just not for all episodes....
anybody got an idea what it could be?

Hi again,

i've got more informations (and maybe the place where to look for a solution):

after sniffing my connection, I saw that log shows a number of results according to the xml result of scripts so the problem seems to not come from the plugin itself.

to improve my first result, I choose to delete series in "Details" tab and import them again (so no more an update, but a "first import")
and I no longer choose "absolute" but "aired" order (why? i think i will never know)... and then... miracle! all episodes were found.

Because other series I imported didn't have the problem (I also choose "absolute" or "dvd" when possible rather than "aired"), I think there's a problem in GetEpisodes.php when we ask for "absolute" order for CSI and NCIS series (and maybe more)
well, in fact, maybe it is just a problem with "absolute" order because other series i tested had only "aired", or "dvd" and "aired" but not "absolute". Only CSI and NCIS had "aired" and "absolute".

well, if i'm not wrong, i think we get something
and some work to do :sorry:

(I just cleaned my db and ask for a fresh import each time with "aired" order and all worked like a charm )

Well, when in doubt always choose aired. I only tested with CSI and absolute indeed only returns one episodes, because that field is only set for this one episode. Always confirm how they are set up online if such an error occurs. If you find such an obvious error as with the CSI example (where one "smart" user decided it was a good idea to add absolute info for one and only one episode) please make sure you help clean this up by reporting it over at thetvdb.com forums so the admins can clean it up.

If I'm missing the point here please tell me more.
