At least the advertising is directly related to MP, and it seems like a good product.

I say let them slide for now, but if they advertise too much, then a stop should be put to it!

I apologize. If the moderators ask me to stop of course I will stop.

But I think there are quite a few MediaPortal users out there that use EventGhost. Agree? And quite of few of those MediaPortal users just might want to control MediaPortal from anywhere in their house with their expensive iPod or iPhone they already own. Agree? I get tons of emails from MediaPortal users that are absolutely thrilled they found my software on the forums and I have made their MediaPortal experience even better than it was. Is making MediaPortal users happy is not one of everyone's goals here?

It's just I see Melloware advertising all around the forums (not only here) even though those forums openly prohibit advertising.
Melloware uses/used logo graphics of other commercial applications to promote and build theirs, without even asking respective owners of the copyrights.
Just doesn't seem like a company with "proper professional image" would do such a thing.

2. Can you cite a reference to where I "use logo and graphics of other commercial applications to build theirs without asking the respective owners of copyrights"? If you are referring to EventGhost I cite Bitmonster's Copyright reference right in the iPhone application? I have posted on his forums and spoken to him personally in the past and he didn't have any problems with EventPhone. I am more than happy to pull any logo's or references.

MediaMonkey? Got a letter from their CEO thrilled that I wrote my app.

RiverMote? Got a letter from the lead developer thrilled with my app and even purchased a copy!

if you are referring the Green Button image its to emulate the MCE remote green button which is a default button in EventGhost. I used the freeware licensed icon from this URL.

Well, I am talking about your product iMonkey - iPhone/iPod Touch Client for MediaMonkey which simply copies a logo of MediaMonkey itself. I also know personally from author that you did not contact him for permission of using the logo of their product.
Anyway, I am not here to crucify you, I just think you should find your own ways of advertising, and not ride the back of communities around other products.

Fair enough. I got this letter from the MediaMonkey team.

"On behalf of the MediaMonkey team I wanted to congratulate you on iMonkey. I haven't tried it on my iPhone (still using 1.4 jailbroken firmware because MM can't yet synch to 2.x firmware), but it looks really handy. Good luck with the sales of iMonkey!"

He has asked me to change the logo to include a lightning bolt but finding a talented graphic artist to make it look nice is tough to find.

As requested I will no longer post on the MediaPortal forums....I am just going to post on my other thread notifying those users I will no longer be using the MediaPortal Forums.
