... all my medias are stored on a network drive and the latency in navigation makes my all setup almost useless.

However with other MCE I don´t feel this kind of lag (XBMC, MCE2005). Are there any low level tweaks that would scrap some of the processing overhead that causes this.

I read on wikipedia that Mediaportal was a fork of XBMC (with which I have almost instantaneous access to my files, but none of the cool features of MP), so maybe there is a chance !

XBMC, everything is stored in database view, so you need to add all your files to the various databases in MP config, then with MP running, change the view to title, this will then use the db's and hopefully speed things right up.
