AW: Fanart Handler Plugin v2.0 (and music fanart scraper)

Hi cul8er
there is a big Problem with the RC4 but i don`t know if this is only in the RC4.

No matter what skin i use, if the latest Fanart Handler ist activated the IMDB/OFDB Database does not work.
It only works in the MP Config mode but in MP "MyVideos" there is only shown the Cover and the movie information of the 3rd movie in the first folder is shown on the main page of "MyVideos".

I don`t juse the Fanart Handler but i thought i should tell you the problem/bug?

Re: Fanart Handler Plugin v2.0 (and music fanart scraper)

I tried with Streamed MP, and i have the same problem

So I think my previous post was not so clear ... :sorry:
I was not talking about backdrops, but about the images of the artists in the icons of the differents views ...

In album artist view, or artist view, into the icon I only see the images for artists I have yet listened... all the others icons don't have the image for the artist.
If i want this, i have to listen at least one track of the the album, and having checked (or not) to this parameter of Fanart Handler Plugin
    Fanart Settings

    Music Fanart Options

Select Music Fanart Sources - MP Artist Thumbs
Check this option if you want the artist thumbnail images that MediaPortal automatically downloads for an artist to be used when you select a music artist/album/track in MediaPortal. These images are often in low resolution (=bad quality) but setting the "Minimum Resolution For Images" option can solve this problem.

... i will have (or not) the image of the artist in the icon for the future.

So my question : is there a way to download/display images of all the artists of my music collection ... even if i have not listened one of them ? Does Fanart Handler Plugin download this kind of images, or only backdrops ?

Reading the Guide to the music section of mediaportal it seems that i have to use the Audioscrobber plugin to "... download images for all the artists ..."

Is this the solution for me ?

    :D

Yes you can use audioscrobber and my guide to get all the album / artist image thumbs.

Fanart handler only gets the fanart backdrops, it has nothing to do with the artist and album thumbnails.

AW: Fanart Handler Plugin v2.0 (and music fanart scraper)

    Hi cul8er,

thanks for this perfect plugin. I really do like it!!!

Please let me ask one question:

How does the mapping of files of movies to title work:
I see the file Walküre (22531).jpg is mapped to title walkure. Correct in my point of view.
    But: file 2012 (141611).jpg mapped to title 2012 141611
and file Der Herr der Ringe 1 - Die Gefährten (1201).jpg mapped to der herr der ringe 1 die gefahrten 1201

    Do not understand that.

What I am trying to do, is (automaticaly) download backdrops for my movies from themoviedb.org and pasting it into Skin Fanart\movies folder. I'd like to display the backdrop onMovieSelect. But, because of the mapping (I don't understand) it does not work for all movies.

    Hope you can help me.

    Thanks
    Stanlus

I'm not sure, but i think you must follow the naming convention above if the images are not scraped using the scraper.

You also might want to check out the plugin called Moving Pictures (link in my signiture), it will be a lot faster and easier and more powerful than manually downloading fanart for every movie. It is the solution that most users of mediaportal are using, and probably one of the most popular plugins along with my tv series.

The naming convention of FanartHandler is well known. But simply add an image number at the end of the title does not work if the title itself contains a number. "Matrix 23.jpg" will be "Matrix" image 23, not "Matrix 2" image 3. So you need brackets to separate the number from the title, right?

Yes of course, I could use MovingPictures, but I don't want ;-). FanartHandler has got everything I need, to display backdrops on movie select. I have written an automatic backdrop downloader in C# using themoviedb.org, that workes perfect for me.

So, all I need is to understand how the title mapping at fanart import works.

    Cheers

i had a feeling that the numbers in brackets might just a naming convention for the scraped backdrops in the database, because the guide just tells users to append a number to the end, doesn't tell you to use brackets. maybe cul8er will chime in.

    Yep. That's right, I think.
The problem is, for some it works for others it does not. And I can't find the location in the code where he guesses the movie title from the pictures name.

    maybe cul8er will chime in.
    Hopefully he does.

    Hi seco,

Thank you for your report. That error should already be fixed. You are using an old version 1.9 according to your report and current version is 2.0. Please test 2.0 and let me know if the error still exist.

    best regards

    Hi cul8er,

What you said is true, I don't know how I ended up looking old source code in Google Code repository. I'm not sure where the Fanart Handler (version 1.9) came to my system. I think it came with Xfactor skin, but I'm not sure if I downloaded the skin manually or did I use Mediaportal Extension Installer.

Can you check that 1.9 is no longer distributed with Xfactor download or MPEI?
