Hi

I've got a small issue with the fanart functionality in MyFilms.

Why is the fanart saved by title and not by id. The title isn't really a unique key.
When you look into your fanart directory you might find folders like this:

{28.days.later}
{28.weeks.later}
{300}
{a.i..-.künstliche.intelligenz}
{alice.in.wonderland}

... and so on

My problem is for example the movie "Alice in Wonderland".
I've got the old Disney version of this movie in my database and the new one with Jonny Depp.
Both now are having the fanart of the old movie because the have the same title.

When I rename one of them to "Alice in Wonderland 2" or something like this they both have their own background.

I know it's nothing so much important but I think that it would be more clever to use the only primary key you have and that is the movie id. :)

I have 3 versions of Dracula 1931, 1979, 1992 and when doing automatic update they all get the same fan art and cover because they are all listed as Dracula but when i rename them Dracula 1931, Dracula 1979 and Dracula 1992 and do a manual update i get the proper fanart and cover for the version.

    What Movie ID? Do you mean IMDB tt#? (which many users will not have in their db if they update data from a different website.)

    Keep in mind that My Films supports many different catalog software which store fanart by movie name.

    No I meant the "movie number" in the xml file which is created by the ant movie catalog.
    But that would have disadvantages too: If a user has several configs but wants to share the fanart directory - he would get dupes, as movie ID most probably would not be the same on different catalogs.
    Also, the ANT-MC ID is not unique per definition (although it better should be.... )
    Technically it is easy to change it that way - but we should be sure, we don't break other use cases.
    Current approach is "simple sharing" between DBs and configs - and user just has to modify title to make a distinction (which helps anyway to see difference of the movies with same name in the GUI).

    You're probably right.
    Haven't thought about the possibility of having more than one database and multiple configurations.

    But I thought that the movie number is a key value which is unique.

    The workaround of renaming the movies for example to ("Alice in Wonderland (2010)") or something like this slowly seems to be the easiest and savest way. I'll use this workaround to become happy ;)

    That is the "current way to do it".
    However, we're still thinking about changing fanart directory to include year automatically to achieve that. Still to be checked about compatibility for different use cases though ....

    Yeah unfortunately the movie number is not fixed either, as you have an option in AMC to renumber. There really should be a separate fixed ID, then your idea would work perfectly!
