First off, let me say that Moving Pictures, next to TV-Series is my favorite MP plugin! GREAT JOB!
Ok, so I noticed this when I loaded up all my kids' movies into Moving Pictures.
While I love the fact that they get displayed, it would be nice if they didn't crowd out the other movies in there.
So I thought it would be a neat idea to be able to assign movies to different user-definable "Categories". The list of categories would appear before the list of movies, allowing the user to select "Kids" or "Action" or whatever.

Any idea on the practicality of this?

Thanks for considering this and keep up the good work!

This is definitely planned but it is going to be a little while before it is implemented. Rough details of the current plan are here though, so if you feel we are missing anything, make a post there. And if you star the issue you will be automatically emailed as we make progress on the issue.

EDIT: More immediately we will be adding filtering by standard database fields in the 0.8 release (the next one after this weekends 0.7 release). Version 0.8 is probably at least a month or two away though.

Thanks for the prompt reply, I hope I wasn't sounding demanding or pushy... I'm a web developer, I know what whiny users are like :)

Thanks for the update, I'll try to figure out what "star the issue" means :)

Cheers,

No problem and always glad to hear about new feature requests. As for starring the issue it just means you click the star on the page for the issue on the issue tracker. This accomplishes two things. First you are voting for the issue. If an issue has a lot of votes the developers know there is high demand for the feature. And secondly, when a change is made to the issue in our tracker you will receive an email update.

To do this though you need a Google Account.
