Hi
I wanna try to use ffdshow to improve tvquality but I do not want it to affect playing other media files or affect playing dvd:s at all. Is this possible? I use external dvd player zoomplayer

I am very happy with dvd:s and other so I don't wanna mess with it, but TV can be better. Anybody have any tips or ideas?

regards

Go with either Dscaler or nVidia purevideo decoders for TV. They are essentially equivalent, but the nVidia ones have GPU hardware acceleration.

Which nVidia cards are best (fastest GPU hardware acceleration and best PQ) for MP?

I'm using a 7600GT and it's plenty fast for 1080i recordings. The video is very solid and smooth, and the deinterlacing looks just as good as Dscaler. If you're doing just SD recordings you probably won't need hardware accelerated mpeg decoding - just go with Dscaler.

    I would say 6600GT

hmm, does this have anything to do with postproccesing?
I think I was unclear in my question.

I wanna try out postproccesing but do not wanna use ffdshow for playing dvd, only for live tv with a dvb t card

Check the post-processing box for TV only in the config.

If you're using ffdshow for your dvd decoding too - for some reason - then you'll need to setup ffdshow autosettings feature (it can be made to look for certain decoders/filters and apply presets on that basis.)

    For example,
I was experimenting with pp on tv.
So I check the Tv-PP box.
I check that ffdshow is loaded in the graph.
    Then change settings.

BUT! I also use ffdshow for xvids etc and then I get my pp settings applying to these too...
so, change ffdshow settings so only one instance of it loads. Then change the presets so you have one preset for xvids and one preset for mpeg2 (tv).
    You get the idea....

Thanks for all the answers. to sum it up

If I check the box in configuration.exe, use postprocessing for tv this will NOT affect playing dvd:s with zoomplayer or playing any other files?

Should I enable RAW or mpeg2 in FFDSHOW?
