    Hi,

i have been using succesfully ffdshow 32bit for all video and audio decoding in mediaportal although my os is 64bit. I was recommended to use ffdshow x64 version to solve some problems within ffdshow. Now this produced another problem within mediaportal: In config/Movies/Movie Player in the codecs setting the ffdshow filters don't appear as they did with 32bit version installed. How come MediaPortal does not recognize this ffdshow version is installed? Any ideas guys? Would appreciate your help very much, thank you in advance.

Sorry to see that apparently no one seems to have an idea.
I tried some other things: Oddly mplayer recognizes the ffdshow filters as external filters and works with them.
But they don't appear in Windows' codecs list. Tried to register the ffdshow.ax manually, but didn't help.
Come on guys help me out!

I'm having the same problem, but I did notice something else... Can you play movies with the 64-bit version of WMP? I installed the 64-bit ffdshow, but I can't play movies with the 64-bit WMP (nor the 32-bit version).
    Maybe it registers something wrong?

mediaportal is 32bit so it will use only 32bit codecs. you have to install ffdshow 32bit for mediaportal.

    Hi guys,

Troy you must be right, I wasn't aware of that.

@phunge: If I change WMP by unregmp2.exe /SwapTo:64 to 64bit mode, it works for me.
I can also access the codecs summary via help/info/technical something (don't know the english terms)
    and ffdshows are listed.

    About registrating manually:
One of the ffdshow tryout guys said, the registration should be done properly if you can acces
    the config pages.

But there might be a problem of the hali splitter which is not capable of 64 bits. So I took these splitters from
SourceForge.net: Files and registered them manually. Maybe thats why it works on my box and not on yours.

I am runnung both the 32 and 64 bit ffdshow versions right now, seems like it works as it should.

The problem is that 32bit applications can´t access the 64bit section of the registry. MediaPortal ist 32bit and can´t know that there are 64bit codecs! And even if it would know, 32bit applications can´t start 64bit applications!
Thats why i converted back to Windows 32bit! Why install all that crap two times :)
Save harddrive space and time use Windows 32bit :)

Thanks to asd7000 for his clarifications of the facts. Seems like we have reached the bottomline.
