Filter Guide For Sports or Movies (1 Viewer)

Am I missing something or is there no way to filter the guide to just see movies, sports, etc?

I'm hoping it's in there somewhere; if not I have no idea why - It's pretty easy to use EPG data to filter this, the majority of TV/PVR software have the ability.

I use singleseat TV Server (TVE3) and in My TV there is a "Search" button at the bottom of the list of options on the left (in the Blue 2 skin). Selecting this allows you to search the TV Guide, I think it defaults to genres, which is what you are after.

Which genres appear depends on how your EPG supplier classifies programmes. For example in the UK, Freeview DVB-T uses difference classifications to Radio Times XMLTV. You can also search by the first letter of the title.

I have not used MediaPortal with the internal TV Engine (TVE2) for some time so I am not sure if it is the same.

The search isn't really what I was hoping for. I have about 100 genres so the filtering is a little ugly. It also searches all channels, not the current enabled channel group.

Ideally I'd like to see something like MCE where hitting guide a second time brings up about 6 filter categories at the bottom of the guide to choose from including all sports or movies.

Or another MCE thing I loved is the "Movies" screen which would give you a thumbnail of every current and upcoming movie.

I know this is an old thread, however I searched and this was the only thing I'd seen that matched what I needed.

Does anyone know of a way to just display the upcoming movies?
