Filter out another Category (1 Viewer)

I've done some digging and I can't seem to find an answer or issue so maybe it's never been asked/requested:

Is it possible to use another category/categories as a category filter?

For example:

I have a category for kid's movies - "Kids". I've manually added titles to it. I would like to filter out the movies in that list from other categories. I know I could manually exclude the same titles from other categories but I was hoping it would be possible to use the category as a filter.

I think the easiest way (and that's how i did it) is to create seperate folders for your categories. That way you can put all 'Kids' movies into 1 folder, and use the 'Full path begins with...' matching rule to create your category. That way you can also easily exclude that specific path from other categories.

If you do it manually, you'll have to change your category matching rules on every movie you'll add.

Thank you for the reply! I use directories for SD vs HD movies. I was kind of hoping to use categories for this. The same goes for certain "collections" - e.g. Harry Potter, LOTR, etc. I'd kind of like a way to group those but filter them out of the "main" list, without moving files/folders around on the hdds (I have a few so not everything is centrally located).

Well, then the 2nd easiest way is probably to set up your Category matching rules based on title.
Take a look at the options, and pick the matching rule that suits you best :)
