Hi there,

I have nearly nailed my MP set up.
There are just a couple of little quirky problems that I would like to iron out.

Here are my details...

Area: Media Portal Program
MP Version: 0.2.0.0RC4 + SVN 20/6
Skin: Blue 2
Windows Version: XP Pro SP2
CPU Type: AMD64 +3500
Memory: 1 Gb PC3200 DDR400
Motherboard Chipset: ASUS A8N-E
Video Card: Gigabyte GV-NX66T256DE
Video Card Driver:
Video Card Resolution:
Video Render Type: VMR9
Video Codec Type & Version: NVIDIA
Audio Codec Type & Version: NVIDIA
TV Card: DVICO FusionHDTV DVB-T Dual Digital
TV Card Type:
TV Card Driver: 3.4
Optional Log:
Optional References:

These are the problems I am having:

- Can't adjust volume... Graphic changes but volume doesn't
- Sound echoey (like 'Hall' sound mode) on some channels
- Audio out of sync on some channels
- Stuttering when in timeshift or recording, especially using other apps (like torrent) at the same time. I am guessing this last one is the hard drive working overtime. Is it possible to change the directory for the timeshift buffer?

i'll try and make a start on your questions...

are you using SPDIF or optical out to an external receiver? if so, and the auduisource is digital, the volume can only be adjusted by the external receiver.

If that's not the case, maybe try the settings in configuration--> general--> volumesettings and play around with the wave/etc settings.

i can only point the direction: seems like it has sth. to do with AC3 sound, i #ve had that experience too, but it's gone since some time. maybe i changed some audiosettings - still using the same codec though.

since i'm using Cyberlink Video and Audio codecs this problem is gone for me. although pretty advertized around here, nvideas didn't really work for me.

indeed it is. the timeshiftbuffer uses the same directory you pointed as recording directory, generally my files\my recordings.

to change it go to configuration --> television --> capture card --> select yours and click edit. there you can change the default recording directory. the timeshiftbuffer is "stored" there in folder like card1, card2 etc...

for all stuttering, audiosynch etc problems: there isn't a general solution IMHO: it just depends on your setup so you'll have to try it out and just play with the settings a bit.... at least that helped me

Yes I am... But I am sure I could adjust the volume using the FusionHDTV software... this is not a big deal though...

I will play around with some other codecs and see if I still get this problem...

I will try using a secondary hard drive for this and see how it goes...

    Thanks!!

You've described sound issues, but didn't post your soundcard model and driver

anyway, if it's a Realtek soundcard, check if it has any default sound-effect enabled, since i had the same echo thing.
Seems like the old driver came with effects enabled by default, and had to disable them

Else, try updating your driver, maybe it's buggy or something...

I had that too with my Hauppauge PVR 250. I changed the Audio Renderer for my TV from Default DirectSound Device to DirectSound: Vinyl AC'97 Audio (WAVE).

This change is not possible in the mp configuration application, but you can do it within mp. Go to plugins, setttings, my tv, audio renderer and select another one to try.

I am using the NVIDIA audio codec. I have read really good things about them through these forums... maybe they are not suitable for my set up??

You are talking about the Audio Codec, but I mean the Audio Renderer. You can try to change the Audio Renderer (a hardware device) within mp. Go to plugins, settings, my tv, audio renderer (german: Audio Gerät) and try another one.

    Thanks tklon,

I changed the renderer and the sound is ok now...

I am still having trouble with stuttering though... Whenever I have timeshift on, I get stuttering... even if I have nothing else running on the box.... As soon as I switch off timeshift, the picture is perfect....

    Any further suggestions??

    Cheers...
