Firefox-like plugin management (1 Viewer)

I'd like it to be easier to install / manage plugins. The Firefox-browser have it coined perfectly. It would be great if you had the same thing going in media portal - complete with being notified when installed plugins are updated.

That would require a version control on the plugins, which would be great to!
I think this has been requested many times before. I've heard a simular thing is on its way for skins.

It is a project for this MPInstaller, included in latest SVN, now making the web support, hope it will be ready for final release of 0.2.3.0

    Yeah, this is a great feature and a big step for MediaPortal. From what I heard all plugins are going to ship in a compressed archive called .mpi, just like firefox's xpi files. Basically they're renamed zip files containing one installer xml file (with plugin information like author, file versions, file lists, plugin description etc.), plugin binarys and if needed additional skin files.
