I wanted to install MP 1.0 RC2 but it kept crashing on me. Being a C# programmer I decided to take a look at the exception that was thrown. Something about the firewall. I have the firewall disabled, but setting it to manual didn't help. I had to actually start it to get the installer to work.

So, for the next version: allow the installation to do it's thing without the firewall.
For now: start the firewall during installation, it's ok to disable it afterwards.

OS is Windows XP SP3.

It's known about, most people have a firewall, so thats what MP is setup to configure, bummer for people who may not even have the internet connected, but that the way it is, unless of course you would like to add your services to make it work correctly of course :)

Not bummer. It's really not very hard to see if the firewall is enabled or not. For all you know, I may be using a firewall different from the windows built-in one. Then what? "Sorry, that's the way it is?" Don't even thank me for reporting a problem, sigh.

i guess you refer to this known bug, right?

it allready fixed in current svn. so RC3 will not suffer from this issue anymore. :)

    *edit*
just noticed that you have the firewall "disabled".
i do not encounter any issues on WinXP nor on Vista when it is not active......
