HTPC build is nearly complete. The system POSTs and I've had a shufty round the BIOS; temps.are good. Got held up by the shortage of SATA power connectors in the case (only 2 
). Molex to SATA adapter now arrived so I can get power on the optical drive and instal XP.
I'm getting a bit confused by all the different AV file types and associated codecs, filters, splitters etc. and how they fit together. Can anyone point me to a glossary/guide suitable for the AV beginner, please?
It seems to me that keeping the number of different codecs, etc.installed to a practical minimum might be a good idea and I'd appreciate your views on that and suggestions on what to go for.
