Hello, I need some assistance with a first look into setting this up on my system.
I dont know enough to modify or write code, not even aware of any log files yet but imagine I will eventually to help you help me,
for now am just an end user.
I have a windows xp pro pentium4 2.8ghz 1.5 ram pc with plenty of hdd space.
Happauge HVR 1600 w/blaster
Apache server w/mysql5
IIS6
lots of codecs

I had an issue with connecting to a database during installing.
Both mysql for windows and the apache failed to connect. either a not allowed to connet to localhost or a user id with MediaPortal pw issue occured.
I found the actual MP to be sluggish and it never actually showed a tv picture on the screen.
Is this truely a LAN only product or is is possible to use over WAN ?

A better thread title would have been "Wanted: Someone to help walk me through and to answer all my stupid questions."

I did find the documentation thus far to be very helpful except I seem to have had a snag/ minor hicup.

Shouldn't the username be root since MySQL?

well, I get 2 choices for database windows M$ or the dolphin apache type.
when I bullet one over the other, I get root for the dolphin and sa for the windows.
I tried various combinations including root for the M$
seems like a default user sa appears for me for the microsoft mysql choice.
