Hi All,

I'm currently running MP V 1.1.2.0 with Vista 32 bit system, Nova 500-T tuner card, WD Green disks (1.5TB mirrored for data and a 500GB partitioned 100GB for OS and 400GB additional drive where timeshifting folder resides) and have a 2.4Ghz Quad Core 4GB RAM machine.

Since moving to MP V1.1.1.0 and 1.1.2.0 I have had a random freezing issue - forum loged here:

https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/newcomers-forum-240/mediaportal-v1-1-2-randomly-freezes-92699/

Since installing the patch, I have not had a single freeze for 4 days running :D

I have also noticed channel changing heaps quicker - down to 1/2 a second from say up to 4 seconds :) I have also noticed a good reduction in stutter, ellimination of slow motion (resolved by timeshifting back) however there have been a few instances where stutter comes and goes after the machine has been booted for a while - this is resolved by a reboot - I put my machine to S3 sleep when it is not doing anything and I'm wondering if this might be causing issues - especially with the Nova 500-T tuner card.

My trailing images and blurr issue has improved but still remains - deteriates gradually until the next reboot. I have the following forum on this:

https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/newcomers-forum-240/stuttering-during-fast-motion-81193/

So, for me, this patch has definately helped and I would certainly recommend that it be put forward to the development team for release in the next MP version.

Many thanks miroslav22 for all your efforts on this :)

Graham

Good news! :)

Last night I succeeded in timeshifting to a single.ts file and playing this back with For The Record's streaming RTSP server (which is currently in beta) which I modified to read the new single-.ts format. Seems to work very nicely. Too early to tell if it gives much better results, but it's definitely a very clean solution.

I also hope there will be far less UNC issues with this approach, since no "discovery" of additional files is needed once live TV has started -- everything stays in the that one (large) file.

Next step is to see if I can use some of the code of our own file-reader in MP's tsreader to also teach it how to read this new format...

    Great news!

I cannot help on the coding side but will be more than willing to help test this out.

Could you open a separate patch thread for that (if there will be a proposed patch). This current thread is getting really crowded. Also we probably wont want to have that multiple TS buffer to single TS buffer change in 1.2.0 timeframe since it is just too big and risky change to be done at this stage of release cycle.

    Ah great sounds promising!

Certainly it should eliminate most of the problems with UNC. I think (almost?) everyone only experiences problems when a new file is created.

Does it seem to seek ok from start to end?

OK, I will do that. Don't know yet if it's better to apply my code to tsreader, or to try and fix tsreader to read the newer format. Will have to weigh one against the other since tsreader's code seems to be pretty hairy to begin with (probably from all the different changes to it in the past)...
