I'm a very new user of MP, after using a lot of other HTPC software, finally i found MP and i really think that it's a really good program. I began using 0.2.2 RC4 and all was fine... except the support for sw based cards, then i tried the old 0.1.3 version and... surprise! my WinFast TV2000 XP Expert and PixelView PlayTV Pro 2 worked like a charm... the cpu usage was between 10 and 15%, and except for the timeshifting, all worked fine... so i talked with some developers of MP and they said to me that the new engine for handling TV is better than the old, etc, etc...
My idea is to suggest to developers team, that they preserves the old TV engine for sw based cards and that they continue using the new engine for hardware based cards. I think that this is the best solution for all, and this way it ensures compatibility with the larger amount of tv cards... i think that MP is better if it supports for as many models of tv cards is possible, isn't it? as i've readed in other threads, other open source projects in linux have support for sw based cards, and Nero Home 7, a 'next-gen' app, also have support for this cards (and it works perfectly). So, i think that if many users of MP reads this thread and put his ideas here, the dev team of MP will consider this, and may be that they include suport (and old tv engine) in this new release... i think that even for hardware cards users, there is already many advantages in the old engine...
So, please, express yourself here, and let's do that developers changes their minds, MP rocks! let's do it better...
.:FiDo:.
(i'm sorry for my bad english... )
