I've used on of these successfully in MediaPortal without any special tweaks, i.e. it worked out of the box.

a house !
i was having problems with my Freecom stick and MP until i found info on this site - http://members.lycos.co.uk/mobv/freecom_dvbt17.htm

I'm not very technical but from the description i understood what needed doing and got it working with XP after a couple of trys. Havent tried the stick with the latest version of MediaPortal or Vista so can't say if it'll work with them.

If anyone knows of other sites with more info on the Freecom stick can they please post them, tia
